Umpiring
Umpires get the best seat in the house but have an essential role in every Metropolitan Junior Community Cricket match. Learn about becoming an umpire, or volunteering to umpire a match below!

Association Umpires
This season, all match payments are $70 for a new umpire, or $80 for a returning umpire. All payments are made fortnightly as bank deposits using the details inputted on Officials HQ.

We provide umpires to matches on Saturdays (Year 7 boys, Year 8 boys, Year 8/9 girls) and Sundays (Year 9 boys, Year 10 boys), as well as school cups and other opportunities.

Association appointed umpires must be 14 years or older, but younger umpires may complete the training prior to turning 14 if they wish.

To become an umpire for the first time, there are three things you need to do:
-
Register as an Umpire on the Play Cricket Website. This allows you to access all learning content you need to kickstart or level up your umpiring.
-
Complete the Community Umpiring Accreditation course, which includes online learning and attending a face-to-face practical session. Note: this course costs $40.
-
Register for the cricket season on Officials HQ. This is where you can put in your availability and find out where you’re umpiring this week. Use the Officials HQ Support documents to complete this step.
