Pre-Game

Check your Fixtures

Fixtures may be changed in the week leading up to your match if grounds become unavailable. Make sure you check the App or PlayHQ for the most up to date fixtures information.

Select your Team

Remember...

You'll need to make sure you have the minimum number of players required on game day. If you don't - your team will need to list the match as a forfeit and should play a scratch match.

Each player should be registered with the association before they can play. Unregistered players can play one match per season as a Fill In Player.

1. Once Logged into PlayHQ.com, Navigate to My Account > Click on the relevant Team.

2. Navigate to the Match you are looking for > Enter Manage Mode by clicking on Manage.

3. Click on Line Up > Select your specific Team > Click Select Team. Here you can select team from a previous line up, select specific players & select the captain.

4. Once comfortable with your team > Click save > Move forward by selecting the coach > Click save > Then finish up with other volunteers that may be assisting > Finishing up by clicking save.

Coaching During Play

The aim is to progressively have the Captain and Vice-Captains provide leadership, with the coach having less and less on-field input. Most on-field decisions should be made by the team leaders. Coaches input should only be directed at Captains and Vice Captains.

  • I missed the Season Information Night for Coaches and Managers! Where can I find the recording?
The recordings are available on YouTube. For Stage 2 and Stage 3 Coaches: https://youtu.be/DJs_b-AucmQ (from Year 6 Boys to Year 10-11 Boys, Year 8-9 Girls and Year 10-11-12 Girls) For Stage 1 Coaches: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnG4wDPyZoc (Year 4 and Year 5 Boys, Year 4-5 Girls, Year 6-7 Girls) These events are designed to connect with coaches and team managers across the Junior Cricket stages for relevant discussions around match day responsibilities, format setup and rules, player rotations, heat and concussion guidelines, and learning opportunities throughout the season. Similar to the events delivered by associations in the past, these nights are designed to answer questions, alleviate uncertainty and help coaches and managers connect with the people that they might see across the upcoming season.
  • What do I do if it's raining?
Both teams should arrive to the match in preparation for the scheduled start of play, and if conditions are considered unsafe, the match should be cancelled.
  • What do I do if there's a rule breach during the match?
Note it in the match report
  • What do I do if there's a behavioral incident during a match?
Note it in the match report.
  • What should I do if a player gets hit in the head during a game?
Visit the Player Safety page for the MJCC Concussion Policy.
  • What should we do if time is called on our innings?
If time is called on the first innings of the match, the team batting second will be entitled to face the same number of overs as the team who batted first. For example, if the first innings is limited to 25 overs, then the second innings will also be 25 overs. If time is called on the second innings of the match, the result will be determined by the scores at the same number of overs that the second team faced. For example, if Team A faces their full 30 overs, but Team B only faces 25, the result will be determined by the scores of both teams at 25 overs.
  • What happens if I have a player who bowls with an illegal action?
Check out the MJCC Remedial Bowling Action policy, located on the Administration page.
  • What happens if the association appointed umpire doesn't show up?
There is no guarantee that an association appointed umpire will show up, sometimes they are sick on the day, and there's not enough umpires to cover every game. Teams should have a volunteer umpire with their team to either just assist with square leg for half the match, or umpire both central and square leg for half a match each.

Post-Game

Match Reporting

If you've registered as a coach on PlayHQ, and been allocated to your team correctly (ask your club if you're unsure about this), you should receive an email after each game with a link to a match report to fill out.

This is the preferred method for completing the match report, however if there are issues with this, you can still fill out the report form from previous years.
