2025 Board Nominations

The following information and application form is to be filled out by those wishing to nominate for an elected position on the board of Metropolitan Junior Community Cricket Inc. (MJCC), including all relevant links and attachments, before completing your nomination form. By submitting this form, you confirm that you have read all relevant materials and meet the necessary qualifications for nomination.

About MJCC

Metropolitan Junior Community Cricket Inc. (MJCC) is the governing body for junior community cricket in Perth and Peel, and the metropolitan junior cricket affiliate of WA Cricket.

 

Our Vision:

A future where everyone, everywhere can experience the joy of cricket — where opportunity is open to all, and every game leaves people wanting to come back.

 

MJCC is guided by its Constitution and Strategic Plan (currently in draft form). Nominees are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the purpose, values, and objectives outlined in these documents.

 

The MJCC Board comprises:

  • 6 Elected Directors

  • 3 Appointed Directors

All positions are voluntary. Nominees are expected to be committed to the strategic direction of MJCC and prepared to actively contribute to the workload of the Board through sub-committees. Nominees should refer to the MJCC Board Member Role Overview for a clear understanding of the responsibilities of a board director.

Board Nominations

MJCC is seeking nominations to fill six (6) elected positions on the Board. We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about advancing the MJCC’s vision and representing its 70 member clubs.

One of MJCC's constitutional objectives includes a desire to support strategies to increase the diversity of the Board, and we actively encourage members to participate in the attainment of these objectives. People from a diverse range of experience and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This includes:

  • the Multicultural community,

  • identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander,

  • people with a disability,

  • members of the LGBTI+ community and,

  • any other community member who feels they can make a positive difference in junior community cricket.

 

Please review Section 17 of the MJCC Constitution for the official requirements and timelines for Board elections.

Submission Requirements

Nominations Open: Monday 19th May 2025

Nominations Close: 5:00PM, Wednesday 4th June 2025

 

All nominations must be submitted via this form. 

 

Voting Process:

Elections will be conducted using an optional preferential voting system. Members must vote for a minimum of six (6) candidates, in order of preference, but may vote for more if desired.

Nomination Process:

All nominations must include:

  • Completion certificates for the required Australian Sports Commission short courses:

    • "The Starting Line" (estimated 90 minutes),

    • "The Players" (estimated 45 minutes),

  • A letter of support from a President or Authorised Representative of a Member Club,

    • An endorsement from a member club is simply a short message that states that ”Our club endorses ……… for nomination for election to the MJCC board”. This letter is not a character reference or to make comment on the nominee, but simply to state that a member has nominated them. This needs to be on club letterhead signed by an authorised club representative.   • A current Working with Children Check (if available).

Answers are collected for administrative purposes only and will not be provided to members unless specified in the question.

 

The MJCC Nominations Committee reserves the right not to progress a nominee to elections in line with the above requirements. An application may also be withheld in cases of concern related to current or past legal matters, serious past tribunal offences in sport or inability to hold a director position on a board.
